Looking to replace my old lead acid batteries with lithium batteries I stumbled onto solarcityrsa.co.za who claimed to have 50% off on excess holiday stock which included BYD, Pylontech and LG Chem. As the saying goes "when something sounds too good to be true -it usually is". Well I contacted them inquiring on the Pylontech batteries; they said it was out of stock but assured me that the batteries that they are going to supply me with is very good and come with their 10year exchange warranty. I made payment the Monday and waited for my batteries to arrive with the free delivery advertised. The Next Tuesday I enquired as to when I can expect delivery. They claimed it was collected that day and that I should have delivery the next day. They forwarded me a screenshot of the online waybill form for the couriers they use. When I enquired with the courier they knew nothing of any collection with that number or address supp****. They contacted the contact person on the waybill and confirmed that nothing was collected. I then contacted them again and asked what was going on. When I mentioned that it looks like a **** as the waybill didnt exist and that the couriers said they dont collect from that adress on the waybill they assured me that it was just a misunderstanding. When I threatened that I was going to the Police as I believed it a **** they gave me some business reference of other solar business they do business with to confirm their existence. I phoned them and these businesses confirmed doing business with them. I was not conviced and also asked for client references. They sent me some sceenshots of some of the waybills but nothing with any contact details to confirm with the client that they received what they purchased in good order. They asked me to give them till 12:30 to prove that it wasnt a ****. I was at the Police station when they sent through a waybill and photos of the batteries being collected. So I left without making a case against them. I phoned the courier company the next day and they confirmed that they collected 2 batteries for me. It takes 72 hours for them to deliver to our area so I had to wait till then next Monday for them to deliver to me. When they delivered the courier company demanded payment from me. After contacting them, they promised to send proof of EFT for the delivery. By the end of day the courier company arrived and requested that I either pay or they take the goods back until someone pays. I contacted solarcityrsa again and they claimed that their acoount with the bank was frozen due to someone reporting them as ******** but that I should pay and they promised to repay the amount into my account. I did not believe this but didnt want the batteries to leave so I paid the courier company. When I opened the batteries they turned out to be faulty units and to date the courier fees hasnt been refunded either. So tomorrow I'm off to the Police to lay a case against them and hopefully their account is still frozen so that I can get my money back.
