********** heat pump cover debacle

<p>Our neighbours installed very noisy solar heat pumps which are situated right outside our bedroom and incredibly audible and loud at night. They refused to pay for them to be covered so I engaged their contractor, Patrick Baldmaus the owner of Solar Power BP who offered to cover them in wooden covers with imported German insulation material. He told me I had to pay him the total cost of R26 000 upfront as he had to order and import the timber boards and insulation from Germany, which I did.</p> <p> </p> <p> He then told me that the neighbours were refusing to let him install them until he had fixed some internal issues with their solar power pumps. Patrick claimed it was not his fault that the heat pumps were not working and was unable to fix them. The neighbours had agreed in writing for the pump covers to be installed and were now holding back this installation due to a technical issue between them and Patrick. At this point I was totally desperate due to lack of sleep and decided to go to a lawyer. I spent an additional R18 000 on legal fees and a totally inferior box made of ply wood that was open at the bottom with zero insulation was installed. </p> <p> These boxes, including the labour to install could not have cost him more than R5 000 and were certainly not imported from Germany (they were from Builders warehouse). Patrick has ignored numerous emails and phone calls and refuses to speak to me at all. He conned me into paying R26 000 and has not in any way given me what I paid for. When I finally managed to reach him via another cell phone he told me he would still be installing them but the neighbour is away and he would be installing them when she got back. I had just seen her (the neighbour) that morning and when I told him this he put the phone down. He also told me he is still working for the neighbour but I spoke to a man from another solar company who I saw in the road outside, he said Patrick was away in Germany, which he isn’t. The story has become so embroiled and convoluted all I want is what I paid for as per the spec or my money back! </p>
