Attempting to avoid liability for faulty goods

After purchasing two US3000C batteries and a battery cage from Solar & Inverter Warehouse, one battery was faulty from the start, it simply would not start up. It's been almost two months from my initial complaint and I've neither been refunded nor had my faulty battery replaced. Firstly, they attempted to deny that the battery was purchased from them. Then after irrefutable proof was provided of this, they then informed me the warranty is covered by their supplier. To date, I've not been able to achieve a positive outcome from the situation. In short, they have been giving me the run around for much of this time. Price of battery was R19990.00.

After my experience, I would not recommend this company to anyone. With the amount of money being spent on solar components, it's not worth the risk of a supplier that treats their customers with disdain. I hope to still see a positive resolution from this however I've resorted to the consumer protection commission in an attempt to compel Solar & Inverter Warehouse into action.

Good day, Your battery was received on the 9th of January. The warranty for PylonTech batteries is carried by Pylontech and their appointed agents in SA. Before any return replacement or warranty claim can be entertained the battery needs to be assessed to ascertain the reason for the battery failure. If the battery has failed due to a battery issue SIW will replace the battery or refund you if full and we will take up the claim with PylonTech. If the battery has failed due to an installation issue or other reason, we will then quote you for the repair. We have advised that this urgent and wait on the assessment from Pylontech.

No feedback provided on what the issue with the original battery was.

I'm relieved to have the battery replaced but the whole experience was very unpleasant. I hope Solar & Inverter Warehouse work towards improving their customer service.

Good day Sir,

Your battery was received just before shutdown. There was a problem with the serial numbers from the supplier which we undertook to resolve during our shut down which enabled us to get the battery in for assessment on the day we opened (9th of Jan). From then we can only put pressure on the supplier to expedite the process. We managed to convince the supplier to replace the unit even though there was no valid COC for the installation which is required. We delivered the battery to you as soon as everything was approved. Every aspect of the solar industry from the supply chain to the RMA process is under strain. We thank all our loyal customers for their patience.
