Poor after sales service
David and his team from Solar Advice Installed a Victron System at my home in June 2022. The installation and quality of workmanship was excellent. Friendly, capable and well trained teams conducted the installation.
My complaint is not regarding the installation but rather the aftersales support.
My home has a 3-phase grid feed, and the team suggested a single phase Victron inverter. I paid for a COC and Prepaid meter application with the municipality which costed an additional R5000. The Prepaid meter installation was meant to be completed 6 weeks after application, but 6 months later im still waiting...
I tried to get hold of the Solar Advice team a couple of times last year without any success. Eventually I decided to contact the Municipality directly (surprisingly I was able to get hold of them but not the Solar Advice team) to find out what the status is on my application, The municipal team confirmed that there has not been an application filed. It is very possible that this can be a delay on the Municipal side but the lack of communication from Solar Advice and the team is disappointing. Subsequently I have also reached out the Electrician who completed the COC, he mentioned that if no application was submitted, I might be in for a large fine and possible some other repercussion.
This morning (16 January) I was promised a call from David, but unfortunately that never happened.
Im aware that the solar industry is inundated with many requests and load of work, but my installation was done before all of the craziness unfolded.
I have referred at least 5 installations to them, but I'm second-guessing that.
Firstly apologies for the experience so far.
David advised me he has been in contact with you this morning regarding this and that he is follow up with the engineers who was supposed to log the details for registration.
David has advised that all the necessary paper work and documents have been completed and sent to the him. As soon as he has further information he will be in contact.

Thanks for your response. I would however need confirmation on submission and a CoCT reference number in order the track the submission this time round. I would need a estimated time of completion.
As a result of the above it meant:
- That we had an ******* connection for the past 6 months imaging something drastic happened. I strongly suggest that the SA team put a system in place to manage this process, not fair to charge clients R5k+ for this service.
- I'm losing out on purchasing the monthly lowest units and banking those for winter months... This great suggestion was made by the SA team.
- I imagine with the influx of solar installations in South Africa, I'm lucky to if I get a prepaid meter this year.
- We also have to contact CoCT each month to correct meter readings as they are overcharging due to Reader Estimation (We do send them monthly actual readings as well). This is a real schlep each month...
I do feel that the R5100 excl VAT I paid for the work which was meant to be done 6 months ago should be refunded.
Regards,
Jannes

We are waiting on info from the tech that logged the SSEG with the CoCT and the date that this was logged. I have followed up with David again and asked to push for this info as I do understand this is urgent.
I will send you an email now inline with your request for a refund.
