Horrific experience attending this class
In all my life as an adult, I have never been treated like this.
When you enquire about the class, she comes across as extremely friendly, very helpful, and understanding.
However, when you arrive at her house on the day of the class, it is absolutely the opposite. You had to wait in a separate room, no warm welcome, nothing.
At one stage, she said to us that maybe she must stop talking and just do the demo without her voice because we are worse than grade 1's and also suggested that maybe she must speak another language.
If you don't understand, she grabs your tools and does the task herself without giving you the opportunity to learn.
I respectfully asked a question at the beginning of the class during her cake baking demonstration. I was politely asked to refrain from questioning and was told she would not discuss "products." This seemed inconsistent, as she marketed all her pans and products at the end of the class.
I've noticed that all her reviews are hidden on the Facebook page, and it's not possible to comment on the class adverti*****ts. This raises a concern.
Please do some research; many other students have had similar experiences.
I would definitely not recommend any of her classes.
Dear Annalize,
Thank you for your feedback, even though it has been nearly four years since you attended my Novelty Cake and Sugar Art class. I’m sorry to hear you were dissatisfied with your experience.
I take great pride in providing quality classes and personalized support to all my students. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping many students enhance their skills, and I continuously strive to improve my teaching methods based on constructive feedback.
If you had concerns during the class or shortly after, I wish you had brought them to my attention at that time so I could address them promptly.
I am deeply sorry to hear that you felt your expectations were not met. My intention has always been to create a welcoming and educational environment for all my students. I strive to maintain a professional yet friendly atmosphere, and I regret if my teaching approach or communication came across differently.
Regarding your comments about the class structure and communication:
Prices and products are available on my online shop (on my website) and gets updated annually by my web developer.
I encourage questions but sometimes request they be held for specific moments to ensure the class stays on schedule and benefits all participants.
When assisting with tasks, I aim to provide guidance where necessary.
On the matter of social media settings, reviews are not hidden, and I take care to create a platform that encourages respectful dialogue. Any instances of blocking or moderation are only implemented in cases of inappropriate or abusive language and comments, to maintain a safe space for everyone.
I’m saddened to hear you feel this way about your experience. My goal is to provide value and joy through my classes, and I remain committed to improving where needed.
Wishing you all the best,
Soetlief en Jasmyn Sugar Art

This class was attended several years ago, and I am concerned to see such serious allegations raised long after the event without any prior direct communication.
The environment in my studio has always been structured and focused. Classes are conducted as hands-on training sessions where participants are guided step-by-step through techniques. Clear instruction and classroom management are necessary to ensure that all attendees can follow the program within the allocated time.
At no point is any participant intentionally belittled or disrespected. However, during demonstrations, questions are sometimes deferred to ensure the flow of the lesson is not disrupted. These are addressed at the appropriate time within the program structure.
With regard to product discussions: the purpose of the training session is to teach techniques. Product recommendations, where relevant, are shared separately so that instructional time remains focused on skill development.
Over the years, many students have successfully completed classes and continued their baking journey with confidence. My commitment has always been to maintain a structured, professional learning environment where proper technique is prioritised.
I remain open to constructive dialogue and encourage any concerns to be raised directly at the time of attendance so they can be addressed appropriately.

My final observation, and with this, I conclude my remarks: Is it possible for so many individuals to be mistaken, and she alone believes she did not cause us trauma?
