********* Debt Collection Practices

I had an extremely frustrating and ********* experience with Ms. Snyman and DCW Attorneys regarding a medical debt collection. My account was handed over due to missed payments, and I initially made payment arrangements with Ms. Snyman. However, she sent me an SMS with the amount and reference number but no banking details. When I attempted to call the number provided, it was unreachable.

To resolve the issue, I made a direct payment of R1,566.00 to my doctor, Dr. Coetzee, on June 26, 2024, which covered my outstanding medical bill. However, this did not include the interest Ms. Snyman had added for her services.

Days later, Ms. Snyman contacted me in a condescending manner, refusing to listen to my explanation. Due to her unprofessional attitude, I informed her that I would not be making additional payments to her.

Despite this, she continued to send SMS notifications, adding interest to the supposed balance. On 26 November 2024, I made a goodwill payment of R200, BELOW IS SMS DETAILING AMOUNTS OWED TO HER FROM JULY 2024:

July 12, 2024: R285.62 October 30, 2024: R 293.00 November 15, 2024: R372 November 20, 2024: R402.92 December 27, 2024: R260 January 24, 2025: R265 January 29, 2025: R293

Then, on February 4, 2025, I received an SMS from DCW Attorneys claiming I now owed R2,665.09 because Ms. Snyman had handed my account over to them. Shockingly, their message still referred to the "account of Dr. Coetzee", which I had already paid in full last year.

This entire situation is blatant financial exploitation. I believe the ongoing charges and interest being added by Ms. Snyman and DCW Attorneys are not only unjustified but possibly ********. Consumers should be warned about these ********* practices. I urge others to be cautious when dealing with Ms. Snyman or DCW Attorneys and to always demand transparency in debt collection matters.
