Very Unsatisfactory Service – Damage Caused and No Accountability I had an extremely disappointing experience with SNK Mobile Mechanics (Delarey, Roodepoort), owned and operated by Robert
Very Unsatisfactory Service – Damage Caused and No Accountability. I had an extremely disappointing experience with SNK Mobile Mechanics (Delarey, Roodepoort), owned and operated by Robert, regarding my Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost Automatic. The vehicle was originally booked in for an engine repair due to an engine oil warning light, which was diagnosed as a premature cambelt (wet belt) failure, a known issue on these EcoBoost engines. On 29 November 2025, Robert insisted that my automatic Fiesta be towed with the front wheels on the ground, despite this being completely inappropriate and unsafe for an automatic transmission. As a direct result of this improper towing, the gearbox was damaged, and by the time the vehicle arrived at the workshop, the gearbox was smoking. Robert then claimed he attempted to repair the gearbox by replacing internal components, but the vehicle remained unfixed. I even sent him R10,000 to contribute toward the purchase of a replacement gearbox. Despite this, no new gearbox was ever purchased. For over two weeks, there was no communication or progress, and only once I followed up was I told that his supplier had failed to deliver a gearbox. I was refunded the money. After five months of delays, excuses, and no resolution, I took matters into my own hands and arranged towing through PTruck Towing on 25 April 2026, at my own cost of R2000 then discounted to R1,500 after they saw the mammoth repair task ahead for me, to have the car returned to Protea, Soweto. To make matters worse: SNK / Robert has shown no willingness to take responsibility for the gearbox damage caused by his own improper towing. If he did take ownership of this, he would have bought a replacement gearbox without wanting my involvement. When the vehicle was collected, it was missing the original battery and the bottom engine shield. The car was returned in a very dirty and neglected state, with mould on the seats, carpets, and throughout the interior from front to boot. Despite being informed in advance that the car would be collected, no effort was made to clean or present the vehicle as it was when it was originally collected in November 2025. This experience demonstrates a total lack of professionalism, accountability, and respect for a customer’s property. I would strongly caution anyone considering using SNK Mobile Mechanics, especially for automatic vehicles or major mechanical work. Very unsatisfactory service.
