Do not do business with Sniperboating SA
Got a quote to respray my boat with gel-coat from Louis Schlebusch (also known as Lewis) from Sniperboating SA (www.sniperboatingsa.co.za ********** ) after been told by him that "they" are a reputable boat company and in the process of moving his "factory" to home.
Took my boat to his house on 6 July 2017 and paid 60% deposit of R14,500 and been told it will take up to 3 months to finish. I have been checking up on regular time periods on the progress and got really warried on his progress as he always worked alone and his progress was by far to slow for him to finish in time. I even offered to pay for someone to come and help him. I also offered my own help free of charge. He had to move the boat to his "wife's" dad's plot because he did not have the correct equipment to lift the boat. Not only is he not even married but his girl friend only works there. (Only 2 of many lies)
On Monday the 25th of September I went to fetch my boat as it was clear that this guy does not know what he is doing and if I am lucky it will be finished by the end of the year. He was very unhappy with me and even told me I had to pay for another boat he was working on because he has spent so much time on my boat.
Anyway, only the half of the bottom part of my boat was painted and an additional 2 strips been done of which the workmanship is really very bad. The part that has been spraied still require a lot of sanding and polishing. Top part of the boat has been stripped and but that's about how far he got. That's what he did in nearly 4 months. At first he did not want to give me my boat. I had to pay the full amount and come back the next day to get my boat.
So all I could do is to pay him in full in order to get my boat back. He still owes me the wood would said he "bought" for my transom (which I had to pay him additional) which he cant give now to me as he needs to still go and buy it. Subsequently I discovered that a set of my outriggers is also missing. I have been informed that its not his problem as I came to collect my boat.
Hopefully someone who is considering doing business with Lewis/Louis will read this before entrusting his or her valuable possessions with this person.
