Why oh why do they bother.

If you are a large company with shareholders consider carefully if you want to make use of snapscan. I know they are beholden to the ever-looming hand of government but to require me to upload every single one of my shareholder's information along with proof of ID and residence is so frustrating that I would rather poke my own eyes out. It took me 2 weeks to get my account up and running and to top it all of they wanted me to retype both the name and ID number of every shareholder even though I uploaded a scan of their ID.

Another aspect that makes me want to curse the dark gods that spawned this service is that I can't get the details I need from their portal in order to integrate them with wordpress. Zapper doesn't require you to upload the entire light forsaken history of your company and it takes less than a day to get them integrated with wordpress. But oh no this would be too easy, says the snapscan CEO while diabolically stroking his hellspawn cat, you have to email their damned help desk in order to get your details to integrate. My god, Zapper charges you a monthly fee but at least you can start using their service right away but snapscan will have you jumping through hoops and asking yourself if it is really worth it to make your customers lives a little easier... Because it certainly won't make your life any easier.

Hi there,

Thanks for the feedback, we're sorry to hear your experience with us has been a frustrating one. We can't speak to Zapper's processes unfortunately, but our being a Standard Bank product means we're bound by the same banking sector regulations you'd experience when setting up a bank account. Sadly, we know FICA can be a bit of an arduous process and try our best to help speed that up, so we'll definitely look into what happened in your case.

Our support team tries to make sure our merchants hear back within an hour of contacting us, so we can help in getting you the details you need in no time! If you'd like to share your business name with us we can find your email and help in speeding up the process for you.

Not to worry we'll provide you all the details you need, so the WooCommerce set up should only take a few moments.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Best regards,

TM

2 hours and counting for the integration details. I can kind of understand FICA, that would be the government running businesses into the ground as usual but why don't you just allow me to get the details I need from your portal. Wouldn't that be easier for everyone involved? So now I have to email your support, wait an hour, receive a reply without the details I requested asking me if I am going to be "using SnapScan for online payments only". I certainly didn't hint at any other possibility when I sent my site URL and asked for "the details I need to integrate with woocommerce". So now I have to wait another hour for a response from a human where a machine could have done the job much faster and with less back and forth. My advice would be to put a page on your merchant portal where people can go to get their details without having to wait for support. I know this is coming off as very hostile but I am just soooooooo frustrated by this whole process and would really like to pay you money for your services. Not that haven't already paid R 600 for registration fees and the plugin. You could have been making money off of me for 2 weeks now but sadly here we are and as of yet I have near to nothing to show for it.

We'd really like to help you with this, we've gone through all of the WooCommerce related emails on our helpdesk for today and we're struggling to find exactly which one it is. Please can you send us the email address you're emailing from or the business name?

Best regards,

TM

I received the initial integration details. Now let me explain to you why this soo annoying also I appreciate you trying to help me out at this point but it shouldn't have had to come to this. Now in order to avoid irritating other developers out the (and by god I hope you implement this) let me run you through how larger businesses develop. First, we have a Dev environment where we install something like SnapScan in order to ensure that it doesn't break everything and ruin our day. Now in order to do this, I need integration credentials that I can't find on my snapscan portal (for some strange reason). Instead of an easy on click action, I have to email your support and wait for 2+ hours. Luckily we are past this point and on to the next hurdle. Now after I have checked that it doesn't break my dev environment I can move it over to Beta. Here we are closer to what the live environment is like and my colleagues can have a look as well to make sure that everything is running as expected. But wait, now I have to email support again to have them update the webhook associated with the credentials I already received and wait for another 30min+ (the clock is still ticking on this). Bonus round. Now I want to take this live so I can receive sweet compensation for my services and you can make money by allowing me to use your services. Can you guess what my problem is going to be moving on to this stage? So can you see how asking people to email your support every time they move environments could get someone kind of steamed? I know you are trying but it just feels like you are going to have to try a lot harder than say Zapper, because you have the handicap of having to FICA everyone. So at the very least allow me to get my integration details without having to deal with a human.

Hi there,

We've checked in with our support team and it sounds like you might have come right with this. We can understand the frustration and have already been working on some pre-emptive support to try and speed this process up. Outside of those changes we'll feed your comments back to our team and will see what we can do to improve of the process.

In part some of our processes are linked to Reserve Bank regulations around eCommerce payments, so we try cover those bases whilst providing you with the details you need to integrate.

That said, whilst your flow isn't what we usually encounter with majority of our WooCommerce merchants, our intension is certainly not to slow down or hinder the process whilst doing that.

Please rest assured that we'll take your feedback onboard. As the head of the Customer Experience Team I can take your comments and review the processes we have in place. We're a pro-feedback company and appreciate users and merchants taking the time to let us know about their experiences.

Let us know if there are any additional changes that need to be made to your webhook and we'll help with that as quickly as we can.

Best regards,
