Horrible! Discriminant! Turned away while I was desperate for help and dismissed derogatively.

Very unhappy with my experience. I collected my vehicle on 2 October 2025 from SMG Umhlanga. As I am based in Cape Town, I had arranged this collection well in advance and was assured by the consultant that the vehicle would be ready upon my arrival. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I ended up spending the entire day at the dealership waiting. To make matters worse, the vehicle was handed over with worn tyres, one of which had a nail in it—despite the consultant being fully aware that I would be driving the car from Durban to Cape Town. Prior to collection, I had specifically requested photos and videos of the interior. While these were provided, key issues were deliberately omitted. Only after all paperwork had been signed—and just minutes before closing time—was I shown the vehicle, at which point I noticed damage to the dashboard, missing clips, and additional damage to the centre console. The consultant assured me that arrangements would be made with SMG Tygervalley in Cape Town to address these issues. However, this has been nothing but empty promises. SMG Tygervalley has since confirmed that they are unable to assist, and despite numerous follow-ups with the Umhlanga branch, I have been unable to reach management. Calls go unanswered, and no one has returned my messages. It has now been over 5 months, and I am still driving a vehicle with unresolved issues. The only matter that was eventually addressed was the tyre, and that was only after ongoing problems and intervention from SMG Tygervalley. This experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I request urgent intervention from management to resolve the outstanding issues and to provide the level of service and accountability that should have been delivered from the start.

Negotiated a deal for 2021 X 3 M40d from this dealership. Signed my icontract and was ready to have a tracker installed the next morning, called the salesman to ask about the vehicle checks and prep for delivery. Salesman told me that the vehicle is in the workshop having wheel alignment done, I asked him to please take pictures and send me the inspection report… not even half an hour later he sends me a WhatsApp message saying that he’s manger said that they are pulling the plug on the deal because they found that the shocks are leaking and would cost around 100k to replace, this is due to the motor plan running out a couple of days before they found this out… not even a phone call from Management…disappointing and unprofessional service. The vehicle is still advertised on AutoTrader.

I purchased a Chery from SMG BMW and my experience with them has been atrocious. The after sales service is terrible. Issues with the vehicle are ignored, To a point that I am forced to get my own testing done at my own cost just to prove to BMW that there are issues with the vehicle. As SMG BMW specializes in BMW, it might not be a good idea to purchase another brand from them as i don't feel they give their other brand of vehicles the same type of attention. On road fees are charged but vehicle purchased on the 31/10/2025 and to date no license disk and plates given to me. Sales person and Dealership Principal emailed but no response as yet from the Dealer Principal. As a new Customer my Business does not feel valued and my concerns not taken serious at SMG. I purchased from them for peace of mind however that is not what i currently have. Also advertised mileage is not the same as reality, mileage advertised at 9800 but actual mileage was closer to 10 800. My advise to anyone is do your thorough checks yourself before taking ownership, insist on seeing all of the reports yourself, take a test drive if permissible and get a proper feel for the vehicle yourself and don't depend on anyone's word. Ask the necessary questions and ensure that you get your proper answers before making anything permanent. thoroughly inspect your vehicle before taking ownership because once you drive the vehicle out their shop then you are on your own.
