SMD TAKES YOUR DEPOSIT EVEN AFTER YOU LODGE A COMPLAINT
We bid on a vehicle, got to the branch where the vehicle was held (which is more than an hour away from where we reside) when we compared the photos it wasn’t even remotely close to what was on the bidding website. Immediately after this I lodged a complaint and asked SMD to refund our R5000 as well as remove the invoice from our profile, someone from the complaints department then rep**** to this email and advised that we must follow the below refund steps (this then serves as confirmation that they did note the contents of our email and accepted this). We have sent numerous emails after this where all the avenues that we as the customers are supposed to follow where just ignored. Now SMD refuses as they claim that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle, where the point still stands that they confirmed on email that we can proceed with our refund request, which we did submit but now they are refusing to pay the refund, then the person stopped replying to my emails. I did advise them that I will post this on Hello Peter if they do not give me feedback - they just didn’t care, and it doesn’t even help to lodge a complaint because they don’t adhere to it. I would also like to add that this has happened a previous time where the website was not truthful about a bidding vehicle, they refunded our money after a fight but they just kept our deposit and we left it, but I am tired of SMD not taking responsibility. Please do not make use of them as they are HIGHLY dishonest, take your money, and ignores complaints.
We apologies for the inconvenience caused during the process.
We advise clients to view the vehicle before bidding as we are Salvage and be certain of what you will be buying. Your issue was investigated and we were informed that you have paid for that sale .We strive to provide the best service to our clients while we also not deviating from the SLA as we have with Suppliers . Our terms and conditions does states we take penalty fee from the deposit for non paid sale.
