Misleading , Price Rigging.
SMD is price rigging, there’s only 2 people bidding for vehicle and they have pushed it up extremely and I strongly believe it’s their inside people further more they have a car listed as a starter but doesn’t start and the pictures on the website are misleading. The pictures of the vehicle on the website were changed - when the car was first uploaded it was stripped in front then they changed it to the old pictures before the car was stripped to mislead other people that haven’t seen the vehicle. This is happening at the Durban Branch!

Auction bidding is only regulated by an auctioneer, but the final bids placed are in the hands of the consumers and we cannot control their appetite for a particular item.
On arrival of any vehicle at SMD, we record whether a vehicle starts or not, and this is what we communicate to the general public. Because the vehicle may stand for a period of time after being involved in an accident and suffering damage, we are unable to guarantee that the vehicle can still start, as various factors such as the damage caused in the accident, length the vehicle was in bond prior to sale, and whether or not the battery is still functional, may all affect whether or not it can still start when a buyer purchases the vehicle.

18 Jun 2019, 10:43I’m still not cleared up as to why did SMD Durban present a vehicle that was stripped at first and then now they changed the images to when the vehicle was not stripped. At the Durban Branch the vehicle is stripped but on the website the images have been changed to the time when the vehicle was in good condition. I asked one of the people that work there and they said they manager said images must be changed. Why are you guys doing this to people and currently as we speak the car has no sign of starting. The vehicle I’m talking about is Lot No 179. Please investigate as to what is going on this vehicle. I also have a screen recorded video of the vehicle before when it first came in and it said vehicle does not start. After the new images where added they change the status to a starter meanwhile the car is in pieces but on the website it’s a complete good condition vehicle. This is truely unfair and *********. The vehicle should be reauctioned properly as it is now not by showing us all good condition images. Please investigate the matter.
