Excessive charges and obnoxious management - Calvin (maybe Kalvin)
I phoned *** and spoke to Calvin. I was assured that a Quote is raised prior to commencing the job. This did not happen (common practice). Work required was to (a) set up a new TV for DSTV in another room in the house and (b) resolve connection issue for the dual view TV. Materials were say 80 - 100 metres of cable and a switch. Smart Satellite (2) guys took about 2 hours to do the job. Total charge was R 6 200. Cable would cost about R 300, but charged at R 1 700. Labour R 2 850. Switch charged at R 1 250. Call out R 450. Immediate interbank payment was demanded before his team would leave the site. Calvin was obnoxious when the invoiced amount was queried. Smart Satellite fees are exorbitant. I paid an amount of R 3 500 after 3 telephone calls. The SS on site guys indicated that it was normal for SS to raise excessive charges which resulted in numerous confrontations. DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES. SS quote that "Our pricing is transparent, no hidden costs, making it easy for you to get service you need without breaking the bank" and "We provide competitive rates for all our services". Neither of these comments are true.
