Feeling **********
I recently made a claim for a chip to the rear left fender of my vehicle. Smartuma refuses to authorise it as a claim was made for a scratch to the left rear fender in 2015. SMG arc did not complete the paperwork for the repairs at the time and this is the reason Smartuma does not want to pay. I dont see how that is any fault of mine as I am paying my premiums timeously every month. Why should I be disadvantaged because the repair centre did not complete their work? They say its my responsibility to prove that the work was done but how am i supposed to prove something that happened 3 years ago if the repair centre does not have proper records???

Dear Sir,
SMART UMA has reviewed your complaint and duly noted your comments– we wish to address your complaint as follows:
The product that forms the basis of your complaint is a BMW Care and Cosmetics plan which provides cover against minor damages sustained to your vehicle caused by day to day driving, and from damages that may result from every day wear and tear. The contract has a maximum indemnity limit of R3 000.00 VAT inclusive subject to the policy terms and conditions being adhered to as noted in the schedule.
The claim in contention was reported on the 22/01/2018. It was advised that vehicle required maintenance of the vehicles left rear bumper. The normal claims procedure was followed whereby we requested to obtain and produce quotes and to send photos (MMS) regarding the required maintenance.
As per the damage reported it was requested to provide proof and send the invoice stipulating that the repairs to the vehicles left right fender was done before reinstating your cover in order for us to assess our liability herewith.
The merits of the claim were reviewed by claims management who have app**** reasonability and fairness to the matter and as a gesture of goodwill, agreed to authorise the claim for the vehicles left rear bumper as per BMW quote. However the remaining damages mentioned above will be noted as pre-existing against your profile.
The registration of the above incident will have no adverse effect on your policy, however you may not claim for the same damages at a later stage and will be noted as pre-existing against the policy profile until proof of repairs is received. Regrettably new damage will also be declined should it be on the same panel affected and declined under this claim.
Thank you for co-operation and patience herein.
