SM Structures
Paid a deposit on 16/11/22 and have absolutely nothing to show. As per the contract: Delivery Time: The structure will be delivered within 3 weeks from order and receipt of the first payment.
E-mails, letters, phone calls and a visit to the factory did not assist in getting something that I paid for.
On 06/02/2023 they insisted to come and deliver only the steel, there was no footings or a foundation, but they insisted. They demanded another 50% payment upon delivery.
Should I not pay there will be storage fees, truck standing fees or truck return fees. That would have been a 90% payment for only steel. As per the contract: We will require the following progressive payments, 40 % payment with order, 50 % of quoted value on arrival of structures to site.
Does not supply sheeting as per the quote but imported products. ***
Best regards,
Best regards,
I do not need to justify myself. All the reviews have the same trend.

Best regards,
I am saddened to report that I did, however, receive an electronic summons for R2 million for defamation for my above review, stating my review is false because changes were made to the structure.
The following occurred:
Paid a 40% deposit on 16 November 22, as per SM structures terms and conditions:
The structure will be delivered within 3 weeks from order and receipt of the first payment. That calculates to 7 December 2022.
On 6th of December 2022 we received and email informing us that the team has been delayed by rain on their current site and with the construction break looming, being 14 December, they will not be able to attend to our side. At this point nothing was done on our site.
On 7 December 2022 the following changes were made by us:
The galvanized shutter door changed to powder coated and we added an additional staircase inside the structure.
On 9 January 2023 an e-mail was sent by ourselves requesting a starting date.
16 November 22 till 9 January 23 = 7 weeks and 5 days. No groundwork, no footings. Still nothing was done on our site.
On 10 January 2023 the following changes were made by us.
Polycarb roof sheets 10 meters long were changed to 12 meters long. This is part of the sheeting.
The above speaks for itself.
Furthermore since we started the project, we had no engineer visiting our premises.
When I requested the signed engineers drawings and the engineers contact details I received an e-mail informing me that on completion of the project and receipt of final payment, the appointed structural engineer will issue an engineering certificate which will reflect his full details and his Pr. Eng registration number. Any queries that I have in the interim I need to direct to them and they will discuss it with the appointed engineer.
So, in other words will the engineer sign off on the project without inspecting it, no site visits etc.
The sad part is that they have the capability and expertise to deliver a decent product with excellence and good customer service, but I am not sure what happened.
Once you speak up you are being sued for defamation.
