WARNING: Worst booking agency EVER!!!!!!

I will never book any other accommodation through this terrible agency and neither should anyone else. I sent an enquiry through sleeping out in January 2016 to a guesthouse I enquired to stay at and I received feedback to say I am booked for my required dates and thats the last sleeping out had to do with my booking, we made a few changes here and there directly through the guesthouse which was very accommodating and helped us every step of the way by changing the deposit amounts and adding rooms so forth. I then cancelled with the guesthouse directly in March 2016 which is way in line with their cancellation policy of 10% forfeited of deposit if cancelled within more than 28 days to arrival, I was expecting to receive money back only less 10% but NO sleeping out the worst agency ever took 10% exc vat which made my deposit money to receive back almost 50% forfeited. Sleeping Out had no right to do this even if it states in their pathetic policy as they had 0 to no communication with us as we dealt directly with the guesthouse. This agency is just out to take everyone’s money and ***** out of our pockets for work they never did. If we dealt directly with them with all our changes different story but we didn’t. I can bet loads of money on this that sleeping out won’t even respond to this review.

Dear Lauren

We have not dealt with you before as this booking was made by Taryn Keys and all our communication was with her. I am sorry to hear that you are upset regarding the fee that was charged for the cancellation of this booking. The quote Taryn was given clearly showed the fees that would be charged in the event of a cancellation and the amount charged is exactly as was stated.

In this particular case the establishment had turned away a number of other guests based on Taryn's confirmed booking. The amount of the booking was R2340 and the cancellation fee was R328.78.

Not only was this cancellation fee clearly stated on the quote which Taryn accepted, but on the day of the cancellation we spoke to her on the phone and checked that she was aware of the cancellation clause and advised that a charge of R328.78 would be made. She rep**** saying she understood and that this was ok. We do have a recording of this call and would be happy to send it to you.

Applying a cancellation fee for cancellations, especially when other guests have been turned away, is normal practice in the hospitality industry. I have reviewed the conversation and all correspondence between Taryn and our staff and feel that she was dealt with in a friendly and professional manner and that she was fully informed from the outset and agreed to the charge being made.
