Customer Service
This company took a booking for my holiday house in December and made sure that they got their commission immediately. Thereafter they hassled me for a month for a copy of my ID and letter from my bank confirming that it was my bank account. I sent the documents four times in the month and phoned three different people at the company regarding this. In the meantime they kept sending me URGENT mails for the documents so that they could make the payment. I eventually got it through their heads that they already had the documents when I was informed that there actually was not a payment due to me from them? I was told to contact the client directly and get the deposit and breakage deposit. I think the service I got from Sleeping-out was pathetic. I have sent mails stating this and asking for a call from a manager -no response. When I asked why they had hassled me for the letter from the bank, which app**** only to companies, they told me it was to verify that I was the legal owner of the property??
I am sorry for the problems you have had. Firstly I would like to explain the necessity for the ownership check. When a guest pays for their holiday in advance it is important for them to know their deposit is secure. We therefore have a FICA type check that requires a number of documents to prove that the person we are paying the guest's money to is in fact the legal owner of the establishment.
Many people have lost deposits booking with establishments that turned out not to exist. If they book though Sleeping-OUT we guarantee the guest deposit and will always refund guests if their deposit is lost in this way. Therefore we go to lengths to ensure the establishment exists and the owner and bank account is correct.
You were sent an automatic email because you had received an enquiry and your details had changed and needed to be reconfirmed. You sent an ID a number of times but we needed bank docs to confirm account details.
As it happened, the guest subsequently chose to pay you direct (this was not our decision) and therefore no money was due at the end. However, the checks have now been done and future bookings should happen without problem.
