Accomodation cancelled by them and refund short
I sent through a request for accommodation in Mossel Bay on Sleeping-out's website and there was a confirmation of available accommodation for the date requested 3rd of January at Mossel Bay self catering. We accepted the quote and paid the deposit required which was 67.43 pounds. I then got a message from the Mossel Bay self catering's owner telling me they had double booked us and were cancelling our booking so we were left stranded. I had to call the owner and then sleeping out numerous times to get our refund and finally after two weeks we got refunded an amount of 60.33 pounds which is much less than we originally paid. We are getting short paid for something we did not cancel but they cancelled on us. I now have to waste more phone calls and time trying to get the full amount back. I will never book through them again which is sad as I have always used them.
We are extremely sorry that this establishment cancelled your booking. They had accepted the booking and confirmed it so we were most surprised and unhappy when they informed us they had double booked. The cancellation happened on the 7th January and the refund to your credit card was processed by Sleeping-OUT the same day, although this may not have appeared on your statement immediately.
The amount you paid was R1500 and the amount refunded to you was R1500.
Whilst we do provide a currency conversion, so overseas guests can see the booking value in their own currency, all bookings are still however made in Rands and establishments always quote their rates in Rands. The fact that within a couple of days the Rand fell against the Pound is unfortunate. I am sure if the Rand had increased against the Pound the increase in Pounds would have been accepted gladly.
As the establishment will not wish to refund an amount greater than the amount they received, Sleeping-OUT will take this exchange rate loss and refund the difference to you. We will make this additional payment to your credit card and apologise once more for this unfortunate cancellation.
