Bread and Barrel Slaley Guesthouse - Absolutely DISGUSTING service! - DO NOT STAY HERE

I booked this Guest House in July 2017 through Booking.com and my wife and I stayed at there from the 3rd to 5th November, when we were going to a wedding in the area.

This was the dirtiest place I have ever stayed in my life. There was a TV cabinet as a clothes closet in the room - no TV in it and obviously no hanging space for our clothes. There was also no other place to hang our clothes, so we had to hang them from handles of the doors in the room. The carpets were filthy and ripped - see photos on TripAdvisor There was no wifi in the room, There was no hairdryer in the room. The pool and entire pool area was filthy - see photos. The pool house / bar had a dead bird on the counter - see photos on TripAdvisor

Breakfasts were poor. Pork bacon and pork sausage with stale bread and warm yogurt. No other breakfast options available.

When we got home I emailed the Guest house owner/manager Emile, all the issues and he promised to refund part of the costs with many apologies. He Never kept to his word after much correspondence. ABSOLUTELY Disgusting service all around! Emile purposefully wasted my time and prolonged correspondence so that the time to review the property on Booking.com would expire and so I could no longer write a review on their website but I still did this on TripAdvisor.

According to him, he does not own the property, but only rents it from the farm owner.

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT STAY here. Stay anywhere else in Stellenbosch, which is a beautiful Town, but do not waste money on this place.
