OVERWEIGHT

my daughter relocating from Secunda to CT checked in her and her baby's luggage at JHB without any problems but when she arrived in CT they wouldn't release her nor her baby's luggage as they said she was overweight! she doesn't have money to pay for this so they kept her and baby's luggage until she pays?? Had they told her in JHB she could've left some things with hubby!! This is totally unacceptable and disgusting!

Hello melanie red,

Melanie apparently your daughter was overweight but this was realized late after her husband had left the airport as he would have taken some of the baggage with him.

We allow 20kg for free thereafter we charge excess. Infants travel for free therefore they have no baggage allowance.

The Johannesburg airport staff let her travel with her extra luggage since it was agreed that she would pay on arrival at the airport. This is not something we always do but considered due to the circumstances and to avoid further inconvenience.

Her bags were handed over to her when the payment was received.

the inconvenience is greatly regretted.
