Unreliable courier service

I ordered a parcel from the UK on he 2/2 and it arrived in SA on the 9/2 it was detained by customs till the 25feb and no one once called to ask for any information, after I called I sent through the invoice which the item was worth R240 and delivery R50 .i then a response on the 26/2 asking me to pay a ridiculous handling fee which i declaimed and asked for the package to be returned to sender. till today 16/3 no one has called me I have to keep tracking and now i see it has been detained by customs yet again for what reason unknown to me as no one in this company can communicate with customers they keep passing you onto other colleagues and customs office responsible does not answer their phone. What poor service.
