Animal cruelty and unexpected fees

First, you’re forced to pay a ridiculous 200 MT entrance fee just to walk in. No voucher, no drink, nothing included. Just a money grab to enter a place that turns out to be disturbing, *********, and downright inhumane.

The moment we stepped in, we were met with a horrific sight: a starving donkey, tied to a tree, looking like it hadn’t been fed or cared for in weeks. Bones sticking out, barely able to stand, swaying on its legs — clearly sick and suffering. This poor animal is being displayed like some twisted tourist attraction. No food, no water, no shade. Just rotting in the sun.

Then, to make it worse, a dog — apparently belonging to a tourist staying at the resort — was roaming around off-leash, biting at the donkey’s legs. The donkey, in panic and pain, tried to escape and stepped on the dog multiple times. The scene was violent, distressing, and completely ignored by staff.

Instead of helping, a staff member grabbed the donkey and yanked it violently, even though it was tangled and clearly struggling. When we tried to intervene and help the poor creature, we were told to “leave it alone because it’s sick.” Sick? Then why is it tied up, being bitten, and abused in front of guests?

This isn’t just neglect — it’s open animal abuse, happening at a so-called “resort” and “restaurant.” This donkey is being left to die while tourists sip drinks nearby and no one lifts a finger. And we had to PAY to witness this?

I cannot believe a place like this operates under the illusion of hospitality. Shame on the owners, shame on the staff, and shame on every guest who turns a blind eye to this cruelty.

DO NOT visit Sky Island. Do not support this place. Report them. They are profiting while animals suffer in plain sight.
