Great in studio service, bad tattoo!
Great service when arriving, friendly staff amazing experience while at the studio, but as soon as i got home after i eft the shop, i had second skin on, and i started to go red and swell up a lot, i was in so much pain for 3 days before going to the doctor, i couldnt move my arm at all and i swelled up from my elbow to my fingers. puss and blisters started to form on my arm. The doc gave me antibiotics and balm. that helped a lot. i was given a overall price for the tattoo witch was 6500 (for the complete coverup) but they had a special on for that month that i qualified for for 4700. when getting the tattoo the artist didnt finish the whole coverup and i was told to pay again for a full day session, and because theres infection i can only go for touch ups after 3 months. my arm is a mess and i am getting married next year. now i have to go pay for removal where i wanted to look beautiful. i am hurt, i have had a few tattoos done from other artists and i have done a few myself, and never ever have i had a experience like this, i asked overseas artists ect what could have gone wrong, and they said its a lidocaine overdose, and they didn't shave my arm hairs off. i was numbed 5 times in the session. i am super disappointed as the artist is boasted about all the time. in the past week i have heard about others who went through the same experience. 1 mistake could cause you everything. but that's unfortunately how you learn. and now i have to pay for someone else's f up.
As a tattooer yourself I am sure you have done your fair share of cover ups. A cover up, especially one to the degree of your cover up which was basically black out, is hard on your skin. As there was a ton of shading and colouring a swollen and red arm is normal. The day of and a few days later you would have had a bit of pain as well due to the fact that you basically had a large open wound on your arm. Which is why we put the saniderm plaster on to protect the open wound from infections. We also recommend you leave the saniderm on for a minimum of 5 days, this allows the skin to heal over in the first layer and limits chances of an infection.
You also had numbing during the session, which does take away the initial pain while tattooing, when the numbing wears off you will feel all the pain you would have had during the session, this is a normal reaction of your skin. Same as when you go to the dentist. The lidocaine in the numbing that was used is 0.05% to 50ml. Even with 5 times of numbing it would not reach the minimum of lidocaine needed for an overdose, which is 500mg.
You also had a large area that needed work done. During your consultation you were informed that you might need more than one session to finish a cover up of that size.
We are disappointed that you did not reach out to us. On the day of your tattoo, we told you that if anything happened and you were unsure you are welcome to reach out to us.
We strive to offer our clients only the best service and to have a safe and sterile environment when you are with us. We go out of our way to ensure that you are given the proper aftercare instructions and have a constant source of information to have your tattoo heal to the best of its ability. When you leave our studio, we unfortunately have no control over how you take care of your tattoo, that we leave up to you.
After an infection we do recommend you wait a minimum of 3 months before doing a touch up to avoid scarring, unnecessary pain and further complications.
