Slender Wonder - Hidden Cost

When I enquired on the price of slender wonder at the Brooklyn Branch, I was adviced that it is between R2200pp and R2900pp. However once you pay and attend the consultation, you are then informed of an additional R600pp that you must pay twice for the injections.

You are adviced to drink the multi-vitamins twice daily and a shake every morning, but the supply you pay for does not last the whole 6 weeks if you drink it that way, therefore be ready to pay another R300 for the shake alone. I was at the 4 week follow up and was told that after the 6 weeks there will be a 2 week maintenance phase that will cost an additional R1000.00 but because it is a months supply I could buy one because my mom and I were doing it together.

Today we went to our 6 weeks follow up, and as I understand it the last follow up, and was told that there will be a "wash out" phase for 2 weeks and another 2 weeks for Stabilizing and another 2 weeks for maintenance and that I will need to pay R2000.00 now because the pills are needed for the 2 weeks "wash out" and the stabilizing 2 weeks. I will now have to work out how to drink one set of pills for 4 weeks as I refuse to pay another R1000.00.

All in all this program cost me not between R2200pp and R2900pp as quoted but between R4700pp and R5500pp and to be honest I would not be surprised if they charge me something for the maintenance phase as well.

There are so many hidden cost involved in this slender wonder that even though I did loose weight, I'm starting do doubt that it is worth this much money.

I'm really dissappointed in the dishonesty in the whole affair and would definitely not refer slender wonder.

Lelani de Lange

Dear Lelani, It genuinely saddens us that you had a negative experience. At Skin Renewal we pride ourselves on great service and this entails clear communication. This has led to us being the market leader in our field. Following our conversation today, I'm pleased we clarified that you were in fact informed of all costs pertaining to the initial 6 week period, prior to your consultation, telephonically and in writing (emails were sent to you). Our letter sent a month before your appointment, stated what the cost is for 4 weeks, that one has to follow the programme for min 6 weeks, and that one has to replenish the injection fluid twice after the initial purchase at R600 a time. Costs were not hidden in our communication to you - I am terribly sorry if you misread it. The supplements are not absolutely required to be taken at the Wash Out and Maintenance stages - these aid weight loss and maintenance (and provide various other benefits) once the patient stops the injection, and is therefore recommended as an aid, not required for success. I am terribly sorry this was not communicated as clearly to you. As per our phone discussion, we would like to apologise again for any inconvenience suffered. Thank you for offering is the opportunity to turn this into a positive experience. We look forward to seeing you at our Brooklyn branch in the near future!

I received a call from Marli and she explained that the package quoted on the emails was for a month even though on the above reply the minimum period the program must be followed is 6 weeks, after rereading the email I can confirm that it says 4 weeks. As I told Marli, with the last consultation, it was not stated that the new pills were optional, it was made to sound that without it I will gain weight. Marli did however say she was going to take this up with the Branch which I appreciated. Thank you Marli for the quick response.
