Horrible doctor at Skin Renewal

I have been receiving treatment at Skin Renewal Morningside for the past 6 months. After months of expensive treatment my skin got worse. I have acne prone skin and at the end of the 6 month program the Doctor prescribed my break outs were more frequent and aggressive. I just left the 6 months review where the doctor didn’t even ask me to remove my mask to assess my skin before prescribing a new program. She had predetermined the course of action before assessing my skin and a consultation with me. She spent the consultation skin shaming me by pointing at my behaviours like work related stress and the occasional chocolate and social drinking. It was the most condescending and disparaging encounter I have ever had with a medical professional. She lacked any EQ and sensitivity that is required from a doctor especially one that works with someone as sensitive as skin given it’s impact on one’s self esteem. This is not to say that doctors must coddle you and leave you to continue detrimental behaviours. I eat quite well and exercise and followed most of their direction to the best of my ability. The doctor told me that reduction is not enough and I must completely eliminate dairy, glucose and carbohydrates. She told me to look around at all the the******s and doctors at SR and understand that their skin is perfect because they don’t do any of the things I do (which mind you is all done in moderation). I have spent approximately R20000 in treatment and product and adjusted lifestyle/diet with no improvement. She proceeded to tell me that oral medication or contraception is a quick fix that won’t work. While this may be accurate it fails to acknowledge the immediate everyday struggle I face with my problem skin. There was absolutely no empathy or understanding - just condescending and hurtful. Despite my frustrations with my skin - my experience over the months has been generally positive with the the****** that has been treating me. This experience has made me want to seek treatment elsewhere.
