Siswe Medical Fund - Total incompetence!

My 81 year old mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in Jan 2021 and has had a mastectomy and excision of lymph nodes and is undergoing cancer treatment. The trauma of her cancer diagnosis is nothing compared to the utter frustration of dealing with Sizwe Medical Fund. They are *********** and unprofessional and dealing with them is like banging your head against a brick wall! Sizwe’s medical aid statements do NOT indicate from which benefits claims are being paid, so I only realized when claims were being “rejected due to insufficient funds” that all my mom’s oncology claims were being paid from her day-to-day benefits rather than from her oncology benefit. I have spent hours and hours on the phone with Sizwe and I have e-mailed Sizwe and 3SixtyHealth. I get automatic replies promising to get back to me, then nothing! Sometimes I get an automatic response saying that are pleased to tell me that my queries have been resolved and when I check, they have done nothing of the sort. My mom’s oncology claims are in absolute shambles and I cannot get through to the oncology department. I am told by Sizwe consultations that Oncology Department DOES NOT TAKE CALLS and only responds to e-mails. What nonsense is this! I tried the e-mail route but they don’t answer to e-mails either. The e-mails *** and *** are undelivered! Mary Potter Oncology Centre complained of the same thing. I am desperate and speechless. The money that Sizwe has erroneously paid from my mom’s day-to-day benefits instead of oncology benefit goes into more than R10 000. This is ******ion of an 81 year old woman!
