Big company exploration
I thought I should share my experience and expose Sister Act a Capetown based company for what they did to me and 4 others who were working for them at the Durban July event 2013
2013 I was one of the 5 guys (students) who was hired to help with the preparations and assembling a photo booth that was for the company at Grenville race course. When we recruited we were told we were gonna be paid 100 per hour to get the job done and we were gonna be paid from the time we set foot on site till we finish the job
We arrived at the specified time which was around noon but we ended up waiting because the parts of the booth were delayed since the truck that was delivering them got stuck along the way..so we ended up having to start late round about 11pm at night, the day before he event..so they told us they’re going to pay us double because we are going to be working over night and it was raining...in total we ended up spending 36 hours on site till the photo booth was completely done
So before we left we were told we were gonna get paid in a weeks time..we waited and called after two weeks but no one paid attention or attended our matter, I even reached out to Sister Act in their site but they dismissed our complaint and 5 years later we haven’t been paid
All I want to say is that since it’s towards Durban July and students want to make money working for promotion and events giggs, be aware of such manipulative companies that would take advantage of black students to exploit them
If you want the names of the people we were working with or any other details you can call me
