GAP COVER CLAIM REJECTED - THEY NO LONGER COVER THE GAP IF YOU DONT HAVE SAVINGS LEFT TO FIRST PAY FOR YOUR PART, EVEN IF YOU PAID IT FROM YOUR OWN POCKET

I submitted an out-patient claim from a specialist to Sirago GAP Cover, they rejected the claim due to the fact that the medical aid savings was depleted, even though that part was paid by myself as always and then they still paid the GAP part thereafter. They said the Medical Aid "rejected the claim", they still processed the claim but did not pay it as I was responsible for paying the account as I have run out of savings, big difference!!!!. SO, SIRAGO GAP NO LONGER pay for the GAP part if the claim was processed and there were no funds available to pay it directly from your medical aid, in the past this was not a problem as the member paid the part if there was no savings and they still paid for the GAP. Then tell me what is the purpose of a GAP Cover if they don't pay for the GAP? Why is it called a GAP cover?? I was told that it was a change for 2018 but I was never informed of such a change. This is totally unacceptable as the main reason for taking out GAP cover is to cover the GAP that the medical aid is not paying after processing the claim at their scheme rate. Does this now mean that Sirago Gap will no longer cover the Gap on claim due to me not having any savings left even when it was paid out of my own pocket, This is not acceptable and totally ridiculous!!! I think you should change your GAP cover name as clearly does not live up to what it stands for??? GAP COVER IS COVER THAT COVERS THE GAP after the claim was processed at the medical scheme rate.

I received your reply, totally ridiculous, does not agree with your explanation, why it is called a GAP cover because now it doesn't cover the GAP anymore? answer that?!?!?!? it does not matter who pays the portion of the savings as long as it is paid by either the medical aid or member, this has been done this way for years with the medical aids, you should still pay the GAP, otherwise this is not a GAP cover and how many client's GAP portions is not going to be paid due to the rule and exclusion you included in your policy. If no savings can you image how many client's claims will be rejected? this is why people take out GAP COVER! GAP cover pays for the GAP, what you offer is no longer GAP COVER!!!! I will be seeking alternative GAP COVER as there are many GAP COVER service providers in the market.
