TV dies afer 8 days

I bought a Sinotec 55" TV on the 31st Dec 2017. A week later on the 8th of January, the screen started to flicker and the tv froze. As I was away on holiday I only took the TV back to Makro on the 11th of February. I asked for a refund (also have photographic proof that the tv stopped working on the 8th) as it died within 14 days of purchase. The (very rude) manager Dineo said she can't refund or replace but has to send back to Sinotec for repairs. I think this violates the consumer protection act and I will be writing to the ombudsman as well. I frankly have no more faith in the Sinotec brand even if it is repaired. I would like a full refund . As I said I have date stamped photos showing when the TV died
