Repair Department Causing Additional Damage
<p>I purchased a 49 inch Sinotec TV approximately 6 months ago. Late in April, a thick vertical line appeared running down the center (slightly to the left) of the screen.</p> <p> </p> <p>I sent the TV to Sinotec for repairs. They responded with a quote of R4000 to fix the TV (which I originally purchased for approximately R5500). I rejected the quote.</p> <p> </p> <p>When the TV was returned to me, the vertical line had increased in size by quadruple.</p> <p> </p> <p>I had intended to continue using the TV with the thin vertical line, but with the additional damage that Sinotec caused in appraising the TV's damage, that is no longer viable.</p> <p> </p> <p>Please see the before and after photographs that show the TV's damage before being sent to Sinotec, as well as the damage that was visible after they sent it back.</p>

24 May 2016, 07:11Morning Taahir thank for you report above. yes you brought in your TV for Cracked screen (internal screen) which is visiable on the first picture, we quoted you as you stated above, and you declined the quote, yes Screen replacemnt is very expensive to repair and is close to the cost of an new unit. with Glass when it is cracked it will spread further and further when handled and with us having to open unit and for proper evaluation the pressure holding everthing together the screen (Glass) will crack further. this is the nature of Glass. I did email all these results to you when you emailed me. - Eddie

I thought I should post this review regardless, to warn customers of my experience, and that they might get the same treatment if they sent goods in with a damaged screen (which does appear to be a fairly common theme to Sinotec complaints on Hello Peter).
