A holiday was booked by my sister through bookings.com from the 6th to the 8th of December . An agent from Golf Resorts Club by the name of Kat Ruocchio assisted us through the whole invoice process. She send an invoice and payment process. About a month before the holiday she sends an email requesting that we need to pay a security deposit of R5000. This said deposit was not previously communicated not was it invoiced. Instead she sent a sheet of paper stating the payment, requesting our names and ID numbers and instructing us to pay the amount in cash on arrival. On arrival the amount of R5000 was paid to Chris Hogan (brother of the owner of the establishment). At check in Chris was there not more than 10min; no induction of the premises was conducted, no house rules were communicated to us and certainly no inventory check list was checked. Chris promised us a master code that will last the whole stay to which he failed to do so. Through out the stay we struggled with the codes meaning we struggled moving in and out of the estate.

Sunday was the check out day. I whatsapped chris to find out the check out time to which he responded by saying it’s usually 10:00, but he will make it 11:00. We waited for Chris. About 20min before 11:00 he whatsapped me saying we should leave the key under the mat. We did as he said and left.

Monday morning I receive a call from Peter Hogan claiming that we burnt a pot, broke a photo frame and cut his 60k imported pot. On the telephone he referred to my friends and I as “you people” and continued to say “I’ve had black people at my place before but they were not like you”. The racial slurs, ************ and harassment continued throughout the telephonic conversation.

My sister then called Kat to get clairity of the situation to which she said she has nothing to say to us we should communicate with the owner.

Peter Hogan sent a picture of the couch we apparently cut. The couch is soft leather from coricraft (not imported as he claims) and it had natural cracks at the time of check in. He says the broken frame we supposedly broke was in the main bedroom. I checked all the pictures I took and there’s no indication of a photo frame in the main bedroom

Kat Ruocchio, Chris Hogan and Peter Hogan coerced to de***** us of R5000 for reasons known to them.
