Worst experience ever!!!

Pity there isn't a 'zero-star' option, as Silverlakes ARC (SARC) is simply pathetic. Took our car in for a simple scratch repair and it took them 3 weeks to complete the job. When we went to collect the car, it would not start. Their staff claimed that the battery had expired and recommended that it be replaced. The battery was replaced on the spot, but later that day our car broke down on our way to JHB. We informed SARC of this and they said they would have the vehicle towed back to their shop at their expense to investigate the breakdown. I was very clear that I would not cover any costs for this and said that I would prefer to wait for my insurance broker to have the car towed, to which I was informed that "this is something SARC is doing for us as a courtesy" and that the insurer would "take too long". And so the car was towed back to their shop on their insistence. After another week, we received an email stating that they had performed a diagnostic test and found that the alternator was faulty (which means they made us buy a new battery unnecessarily). They also informed us that we should collect our car from their shop, but that they wouldn't release the car unless we paid the towing invoice (which they said they would cover). Then followed a string of calls which would eventually lead to them taking no responsibility whatsoever, despite us having the conversations and their undertakings recorded on a call recorder app. Major coincidence that the alternator now has to be repaired/replaced after our car was in their care for more than a month in total, as it was functioning perfectly well beforehand. They also removed the car's cubbyhole (presumably to perform the diagnostic test?) and did not fit it back again, it was lying on the back passenger seat when our car was collected. The customer service was absolutely awful and to date, we have yet to be contacted by management to try and explain (a) why they made us buy a new battery when it was clearly not needed (obviously their staff do not have the necessary expertise to be handing out advice of this nature) and (b) why we were blatantly deceived into believing that we would not be held liable for the expense of towing our vehicle back to their shop. The fact that our car had electrical issues after they had it in their possession for all that time is nothing short of suspicious. We now have to spend thousands to get our car back to the condition it was in before SARC laid their *********** hands on it. We are extremely disappointed in SARC and would advise other to stay away!
