Clients of a JHB travel agency have lost hundreds of thousands of rands after they paid upfront for their dream holidays. Some have now opened ******** charges against Premila Shunmugam from Silver Touch Events and Travel (Pty) Ltd of Greenstone. “Family friends who booked a Mauritius trip through the same company experienced severe issues: they were denied return flights, incurred additional expenses, and discovered only partial accommodation payments had been made. Despite assurances of refunds, no funds were received. Following these events, we requested confirmation of our bookings. None was provided. A refund was promised for 14 November 2025, then 18 November 2025, but never processed. Consequently, we opened ******** cases,” said one family. “On 27 November 2025, Premila’s attorneys (Jordaan Smit Inc.) informed us that Premila had app**** for liquidation in September 2025, despite continuing to solicit payments from clients without fulfilling bookings or issuing refunds,” they added. Another victim said: “We paid R213 584 upfront…no bookings were made.” Premila Shunmugam (Pic) said today she signed a mandate for liquidation last week. She denied claims that she was running a “****” and said she is not aware of ******** charges being opened. She could not say how many clients have been let down. The figure, it is believed, could run into millions of rands.
