Silo Hotel - "Why did you come back then?"

Visit 1: Stopped in for a late night coffee. It wasn't overly busy. The waiter seemed more interested in chatting up some of his colleagues than taking our order! After 20 minutes, he eventually took our order. After another 20 minutes, we had to go and tell him that our order had been waiting on the bar for him to bring it to our table.

This is a new hotel. The decor is 'different' and the views are spectacular. Definitely worth seeing once, but I would not order anything there again. Since sharing my experience it is interesting to hear how many people have had a similar experience.

Visit 2: I was hosting a sales conference in Cape Town, and thought it would be a good idea to have pre-dinner drinks on the pool deck. Half an hour before we got there, we called to see if all was still in order, and the weather was turning. The person we dealt with assured us that the pool deck was still on, but if not we could sit in the 6th floor bar.

When we arrived we were told the pool deck had been closed because of the bad weather. And there wasn't a seat to be had in the 6th floor bar. When we asked the maître d' why they didn't let us know, he said "We don't control the weather". So I explained how this was my second visit and my service the first time had been bad.

"Why did you come back then?" he said. Clever comment, but maybe a costly one...
