SILO HOTEL FIASCO

<p>I booked a table at The Silo for afternoon tea today 7th May at 3.30pm. The table was booked two weeks ago, for four people, my partner and his parents (who are visiting). We arrived 20mins early, to hopefully have a look around the place. When I approached the reception desk, all did not bode well. The guy in front of me said in a rather loud voice "well if that is your attitude we are leaving". Then it was my turn. I said we had arrived for afternoon tea, gave my name, and they all looked clueless. I said I had not received a confirmation of booking, and had called a few days after booking to tell them this. I was put on hold for what seemed like quite some time, and then was reassured that my table was reserved. Sure enough on our arrival they said they had a reservation for me, for LUNCH for 4 AT 3.30??????? Too late for lunch for me, I would NEVER book lunch after 2pm at the latest! They said they only take 20 people for afternoon tea on any one day. They had a booking for 19 for tea, so we think that we were just sidelined into the mainstream restaurant "for lunch". Appaulling the way they handled the situation, no one knew what was happening, we were told six times that I had booked for lunch! AT 3.30pm, they are MAD! It is all show and no substance, does not matter how fabulous a place looks if the service does not match! Will never return, there are far better places in Cape Town!</p>
