Overrated and Over Priced

I knew before going to Signature that is was going to be an expensive evening, I was prepared for this and willing to pay as I thought it was going to be worth it.
When making the reservation I requested a romantic special table for 2. When I arrived we were given a booth table in the middle of everything, not romantic at all, the table was so big we could hardly reach each other and now picture me in a tiny ***y dress (dressing up for my mans birthday) trying to get in and out of a booth seat!
One of the reasons I wanted to go to Signature was for the live music, well it started at about 20h00 - an hour after we arrived for dinner, the band played a short set, took a long break and then started playing a short set again before taking another long break.
Normally people complain about unattentive waiters, Signature takes it to another level. We had about 3 waiters looking after us and had them at the table asking if everything was ok in rotation about every 5 minutes. Trying to have a conversation and being interrupted every 5 minutes for no reason when our drinks are clearly full and we are waiting for dinner is totally unnecessary.
We ordered a bottle of wine when we ordered our main meals, the waiter came back to us and said that they didnt have the wine we ordered, so we chose another one. The meal arrived, still no wine, the waiter came back and said they didnt have the second one we ordered as well, at this point we were well into our meals and didnt see the point in having a whole bottle so we paid R75.00 for one glass of wine.
The meals... I ordered the grilled sole. It arrived on a plate with green peas and fried baby potatoes made into thick chips. That was it, dry fish with peas and chips for R220.00.
My partner ordered the ostrich, he enjoyed his meal but all it came with was roasted peppers, so a piece of ostrich and green, red and yellow peppers for about approx R250.00 (cant remember the price for his meal), I gave him some of my chips to eat with his meal as he had no starch at all.
The deserts were the best part of the dinner but definitely not worth the R1350.00 that we landed up paying when settling the bill.
If you are thinking of going to Signature for a special occasion, DONT.
Rather go to a more down to earth place like the Green Pepper Corn or Le Souffle etc.
