Unpleasant and unfair hospitality treatment

Incident Report: Siesta Guest House Experience in Free State South Africa. Subject: Complaint Regarding Accommodation Conditions and Treatment I am submitting this report to document my experience during my stay at Siesta guest house Frankfort South Africa. During my stay, I found that the property did not operate in the manner expected of a guest house providing hospitality services. Instead, it functioned more like a private family residence with strict and restrictive rules that made guests feel unwelcome rather than accommodated. The owner imposed a curfew, requiring guests to return by a specific time and restricting when they could leave the premises. These rules significantly limited personal freedom and flexibility, which are generally expected when paying for accommodation. In addition, guests were prohibited from receiving any visitors on the property. The owner made it clear that no visitors were allowed under any circumstances, stating that it was her private property and that guests had to comply with her rules. The most concerning aspect of my stay was the owner's conduct towards me. She made a statement that I understood to be racially discriminatory, telling me that because I was a Black person, I could not do as I pleased on her property. I found this comment offensive, humiliating, and inconsistent with the respectful treatment that all paying guests should receive. I also felt threatened by comments the owner made regarding lions that were kept on the property. She stated that if I did not follow her instructions, she could have me "go to the lions." Although I cannot be certain whether this statement was intended as a joke or a serious threat, I perceived it as intimidating and frightening, particularly knowing that lions were reportedly kept in the backyard. As a result, I felt unsafe during my stay. Overall, my experience was extremely distressing. Instead of feeling welcome and secure, I experienced fear, anxiety, and a lack of personal freedom. The environment was hostile rather than hospitable, making my stay a very unpleasant experience. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this accommodation to other travellers. I believe prospective guests should be aware of these conditions before making a booking so they can make an informed decision. (Especially block people) I submit this report as an honest account of my personal experience during my stay.
