Shure refusing to accept that our SLX-D wireless pack is faulty
In March 2021 we bought a Shure SLX-D wireless pack which is an expensive model and suppose to be reliable for many years.
We purchased it through Paul Bothners Music Store in Cape Town.
In the middle of last year (2023) and just after the warranty expired we started to get a horrible noise through our countryman headset microphone. We took it back to Paul Bothners and they tested it with a different microphone and found that it was the Shure SLX-D that was the problem.
So it was sent to Shure in Johannesburg and after quite a long while they sent it back saying that there was no problem with the system. They made some suggestions which we tried, but the problem persisted and there was noise coming through. So we took it back to Paul Bothners and they tested it on site again and then asked one of their technicians to test it off site. Again they found that it was the Shure SLX-D that was faulty.
So it was sent to Shure Johannesburg a second time and once again we were told that there was nothing wrong with it so they sent it back to Paul Bothners. My contact at Bothners then sent it to another technician who is highly skilled and he found the same problem and was able to confirm that it is the SLXD1G59 transmitter that is faulty and that is was most likely a factory fault.
This is unacceptable service from Shure who have always been known to us as a reliable, high quality brand. Several technicians have been able to confirm and reproduce the problem without any difficulty.
