Streaming encoding/decoding is horrible

Dear Showmax

When will you actually start bumping the quality of your streams?

You're "best" settings looks like horse poo compared to Netflix's 1080p setting.

When can we expect proper 4K streaming. It's 2024, what possible reason could you have not to provide it. Launch a more expensive package if you have to, just get with the times.

Don't bother trying to look for a problem on my side, it's not me....IT'S YOU (100Mbps fiber line streaming 4K Netflix like a dream)

To anyone considering Showmax, STAY AWAY!

The claim to stream up to 1080p but I only get max resolutions of 960x540 for "Full HD" content watching via Chrome on a Win11 PC with 1080p monitor.

I'm running 100Mbps fiber and regularly stream 4k Netflix no problem. Of course they try to troubleshoot your connection endlessly and try to pinpoint the problem on you.

I gave them screenshots of chrome's media-internals page showing they only send 960x540 resolutions even though I select "best" quality (not to mention they still use the outdated H.264 codec ) and speedtests and all the useless **** they ask for and what do they reply with?

"Thank you for providing the details regarding the video quality you're experiencing. We understand your concern about the resolution, and we are always looking for ways to improve our service offering to provide the best streaming experience possible. We appreciate your feedback, and we're committed to continually enhancing our platform."

I specifically ask them for bitrate and codec info and then they reply with this generic drivel.

Either there's a problem with your streaming, your CDN's OR you're just outright lying about 1080 streams.

Just got a call wanting me to explain the whole situation again. F*ing ridiculous.

No continuity with support, every reply here get's sent to a new person that doesn't have the history of this issue.

@Showmax, want to know what the right move here is?

Get the entire history of my support issue since yesterday, phone calls, emails the lot. Actually read and listen to it.

Then get the appropriate person to contact me via email, suggesting a proper fix or test I can perform, be it a damn trace route or packet capture, I don't care, but don't reply with "did you try turning it off & on again" B.S.
