New App Prohibits Huge Portion of Existing Audience From Accessing Platform

Showmax made the daft decision to update their app and make it inaccessible to anyone who doesn't have the latest devices. Used to watch Showmax all the time on my iPad which admittedly a little old but now i can't anymore. And I'm not gonna go spend thousands of rands buying new devices just so I can watch their subpar programming anyway. Funny how juggernauts like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+ all work fine on my old iPad yet the glorious Showmax is too good for that. Honestly, to make their app inaccessible to people with older devices in a time of economic hardship when people can barely afford to pay their rent let alone buy the latest iPad, with DSTV bleeding subscribers and desperate to grow their market, they go and cut out a huge chunk of their core audience in a single swipe. Go Showmax. Genius move. I have unsubscribed now and will rather use platforms like the aforementioned ones that are more accessible to lowly people like me who don't have the fanciest mobile devices on the market. Cheers.
