Operations Manger told me he is sleeping i must not disturb for my safety.
On the 7th March 2018 I purchased a shosholoza meyl train ticket from Johannesburg park station to Durban park station which was scheduled to depart at 18:40pm from Johannesburg and arrive at Durban on the 8 March 2018 at 09:10 am Global ref #: ********** Ticket#: ********** ref# ********** We left the station at the scheduled time given when we ended up on a stand still at the germiston station at 19:15 where till pending which is now 01:00 am 8 March 2018 and the train has not moved since due to unforseen circumstances which none of us as passengers have knowledge of. Immediately after the train got stuck we never saw the patrolling securities or the train management in our carriages as they had locked themselves in a separate carrige to avoid our inquiries of why the train had stopped, how long its estimated to be on a still mode and why they have not reported any of this to us as passengers. We tried calling the number given on the tickets which was a direct number to the days train manager named Angelinah Kali which I spoked to and only got a reply from her that said " We don't know why the train had stopped and we don't know what time it will move so I can not assure you anything". From this response there was no sign of assurance that we should remain calm and the problem was being felt with instead it put me under fear and insecurity. I then proceeded to call the shosholoza meyl Johannesburg Area Operations Manager Mr Derrick Mthetwa who on my first call attempt blocked my call and on my second attempt rudely answered the phone with the direct quote below after I had explain the situation. " its late. I am sleeping. This is public transport there's no guarantee. I don't even know which people are working and I'm not willing to find out as its late and I'm in the middle of my sleep. You can go ahead and report me for not being willing to try and resolve the situation. Please don't call back". I am still star struck at how this supposed manager responded to my situation. The train has now moved a few km back to Johannesburg and it got stuck now at a place that is not even a station. We are at the verge off anything really. Loosing our lives, being ****** and being in a helpless and unreacheable area. I have contacted my parents to come fetch me but there is no way in or out of the railway at the position where the train is now stuck. So even if I wanted to leave I can't. There is no security or anyone to help us as passengers of diff ages varying from infants to pensioners. If there is anyone reading this right now please please help us before we encounter even worse than we have. Thank you.
