We cancelled our subscription in January 2026 but the debit orders keep going off and the support team does not follow through on promises to cancel the debit order and refund the school.

I am leaving this review because I genuinely wish someone had warned me to look beyond the polished onboarding experience before committing my business to Shopstar. At first, the platform appears professional, the communication is friendly, and the experience gives the impression that your business is in good hands. Unfortunately, that was not my long-term experience. Over time, as my business became more dependent on the website functioning reliably, I experienced repeated issues involving support, technical follow-through, payout timing concerns, and overall platform reliability. These were not isolated inconveniences. In my experience, they became recurring business-impacting problems. This review is based on my own documented experience as a paying customer. 1) Long-running tracking / Google integration issues One of the most frustrating and damaging issues I experienced involved Google tracking / tag / conversion-related problems on my website. From my side, I experienced ongoing issues with Google Tag Manager / tracking not appearing to function properly, despite repeated attempts to get clarity and resolution. This mattered because it affected my confidence in whether important actions on my site were being tracked correctly — including conversions and ad-related performance. For any business owner running paid ads, this is not a small issue. Accurate tracking affects real advertising spend, decision-making, and growth. What made this especially frustrating was not only the issue itself, but how long it remained unresolved. I repeatedly raised the problem, followed up multiple times, and even asked whether Shopstar’s developer could join or assist in a meeting with Google support to try to resolve the contradiction between what Google was showing and what I was being told from the platform side. But nothing come of it 2) Serious issues were difficult to escalate meaningfully A major concern for me was how difficult it felt to meaningfully escalate serious technical or business-affecting issues. My experience was that once something moved beyond a basic support question, it often became a cycle of: reporting the issue, waiting for feedback, following up again, and still not getting a clear outcome. That becomes extremely draining when you are trying to run a business at the same time. I do want to be fair: support was often polite in tone. But politeness is not the same thing as effective resolution — especially when the issue affects website performance, tracking, customer orders, or business operations. 3) Repeated follow-ups were often needed, with limited confidence in resolution Over time, one of the most difficult parts of using the platform was the pattern of having to repeatedly follow up on issues that should, in my view, have been handled with greater urgency or clarity. My personal experience included: recurring unresolved technical concerns, repeated requests for updates, delays in getting meaningful answers, and situations where I was left uncertain whether an issue had truly been resolved or merely gone quiet. For a small business owner, that uncer*****y creates unnecessary stress and wasted time. 4) Payout timing became a recurring concern Another issue that caused significant concern for me was payout timing and the predictability of funds reflecting when expected. To be clear: I am not making any allegation of misconduct. However, based on my own experience, payout-related timing was not always as straightforward or reassuring as I would expect from a business platform handling customer payments on behalf of merchants. There were multiple occasions where I had to query missing payout invoices, delayed payment reflection, or timing issues around when funds would actually become available. At least one delay was acknowledged to me as a broader payment delay. For a small business, this matters a lot. Cash flow is not a side issue. It affects: shipping, debit orders, supplier payments, advertising, and the ability to operate normally. When access to expected funds becomes uncertain or delayed, it creates real business pressure. 5) Domain / migration issues added unnecessary stress when leaving After deciding to move away from Shopstar, I am also experienced additional frustration around domain / pointing / migration-related issues. This is especially stressful because by this stage, the priority should have been a clean transition and as little disruption as possible. Instead, now as well my experience, moving away from the platform is not nearly as smooth or straightforward as I would have expected or they have said. When your website is central to your income, domain and routing problems are not minor admin inconveniences — they directly affect visibility, customer access, and sales. I have again asked for the developers number and have also send them my new developers number and email to them. And have not heard a thing or even a update. 6) Lack of proper direct escalation is, in my view, a serious weakness Another major weakness for me was the lack of what I would consider a proper direct escalation path for urgent issues. In my experience, communication was primarily limited to support-style channels such as chat, WhatsApp, and email. That may be acceptable for small admin queries. It is far less acceptable when the issue involves: broken or uncertain tracking, payment-related concerns, domain / migration disruption, website access, or other business-critical functions. When a platform is positioning itself as a serious e-commerce solution for small businesses, there should, in my opinion, be a more effective route for urgent escalation when important issues arise. Final thoughts for other business owners If you are only looking for a very basic online store and do not expect much beyond the essentials, you may not experience these issues immediately. But if your business depends on: reliable tracking, accurate data, smooth technical support, predictable operations, and confidence that serious issues will be resolved properly, then I would strongly encourage you to do very careful due diligence before committing your business to this platform. My personal experience was that Shopstar presented far better in the beginning than it delivered over time once my business truly depended on it. That is what made the experience so disappointing. Because by the time the more serious issues become visible, your business is already built into the platform and dependent on it. I stayed longer than I should have because I kept hoping things would improve. In my experience, they did not improve in the ways that mattered most. If this review helps another business owner ask harder questions before committing, then it has served its purpose.
