Worst customer service from cashier and manager
After having battled with my mind whether to go to Shoprite or the local shop to buy some fruits. I went against my better judgement and went to Shoprite. Walked in, thinking to myself "this time around it's not bad", picked my fruits and proceeded to go pay. I felt okay cause I had been in the store for just 5mins and this was a good thing for me. Went to the checkout Aile only to find that there is only one till open for "less than ten items" customers. So I decided to go to the next till, till no 2, there I see a closed sign clearly displayed. So I move on to the next one. The till had no queue and no closed sign. So there I placed my goods on the counter, n processed to take out my wallet. At this point am thinking wow their service has improved. Only to hear ntiyiko (your cashier) say to me, "am closed" with such anger n tention in his voice. I asked how do u then say u closed when there no sign that u placed. He said it's there in the front. It feel like I was looking for a needle in a hay stack, I looked for the sign n there wasn't. I asked him where it was he then just looked at me. He went on to say that he will not help with the three items. I asked for the management to come assist me and he said I should go call them am self as he was closed. I went to the management office and ask for a manager. She then came out after I he'd explained to her what had happened. At this point another lady came to the same till and She was under the impression that it was open. She came out and asked him to help ntiyiko said no he's will not assist me as he was closed. She asked him again and he said no, I should go else and he is tired n wants to go home. He was meant to knock off at 5but he was still there. The manager went back to her office and didn't say anything to me. I waited with another lady who was also understand the impression the till was open. 5minutes later I go look for to find her on the phone. I asked to get some to help and she asked someone to take me another till. For a brand that is meant to be growing and cares about the community I am shocked that a simple thing like a sign is not allowed as the manager said. Personally, I think she should have helped me and dealt with him after I had left. The staff at Arcadia go on like they are doing is a favour for coming to work. Management is just so pointless as they all came to see thier friends at work n have a great time. The till are never with more 5 cashiers verse the amount of customers that come there. You guys can learn a thing or two from other pick n pay who have floating cashiers on standby.
