Unsafe Appliances - Ottimo 2 plate stove & Oven

I just bought an Ottimo 2 plate compact stove with an oven today, at Pretoria CBD Middestad Shoprite about 2 hours ago. I plug it when I arrive in my apartment. There’s smoke coming out from the back. Is this normal?

Not safe!! I’m even scared to cook
