Terrible service and humiliation at shoprite ireland street

I would like to lay a complaint about the staff/ Cashiers especially at Shoprite Verulam.

If you are unable to assist me please forward this to the relevant departments as i will be taking this to Hello Peter aswel.

On Saturday 13 March 2021 i went to Shoprite at 39/41 Ireland Street, Verulam 4340, the service i received from this store was disgusting.

Here Goes,

I went to the money market as i needed to send money, i informed the cashier that i would like to use my debit card to swipe for the amount i would like to send, she informed me that i cannot do that and i need to take out cash.

I proceeded to shop around and get a few things in store and decided to withdraw money at the till point. As the cashier at the till with a name badge

Sithembile was scanning my things, my sister had noticed that 1 block of cheese that i had purchased was mildew, both the cashier and the packer did not notice this and proceeded to put it in a plastic bag. The cashier named Sithembile said that we should go and get another block of cheese for the same amount which my sister did but with a price small price difference. I then told the cashier to please minus off the mildew block of cheese priced R26.14, she looked at me with such attitude and then asked for assistance from another employee. I had purchased 2 blocks of cheese, they proceeded to minus the block that was R25.66, so i asked them why are they subtracting from that block of cheese instead of the one that was mildew which was R26.14. I asked them several times, they ignored me and both laughed. I'm sure if i was short of a couple of cents or Rands they would never put the items through but just took it Apon themselves to make the wrong adjustment even after i informed them. The assistant employee that helped Sithembile was a black lady, i did not get her name.

I then informed Sithembile that i need to make a cash withdrawal of R800, she blatantly ignored me again, so i repeated myself and she rudely says oh you want R120, so i said no, i need R800, she then says she does not have money and i should go to another till. I told her i cannot do that, it would mean i would have to swipe again and join another line again. Reena Sunderpersadh who i believe was the controller then came and i explained to her what had happened, she just ignored me flat out, you would swear i was talking to myself. So disrespectful to ignore me and not even assist or correct Sithembile.

The cashier Sithembile was then making a discussion of this to other cashiers around her and people in the queue making me some sort of joke and still laughing about the whole incident that just took place. I refuse to except this type of treatment from anyone employed by a well-established company like Shoprite. I intend to make an example of this cashier, supervisors have no control over their staff and are of no assistance what soever, i will take this to every social media platform, Hello Peter, the Media to make my voice heard and inform people of the type of staff that Shoprite at 39/41 Ireland Street, Verulam 4340 employ, they are useless, rude, disrespectful and have no customer service to the public. They get paid to do a job which clearly they hate since they dont think of the repercussions their disgusting behaviour has.

The cashier that i was using was named Sithembile by her name badge yet my till slip says Thembeka? now you tell me.

Its not about the cents difference in the cheese but rather of the customer service and embarrassment they caused me in that store, infront of other staff and customers. I refuse to take this lying down. If they do not know how to do their job, they should not be employed especially in a customer friendly store. People are desperately looking for jobs and these fools take theirs for granted.

As stated above, i refuse to except this humiliation and embarrassment and i intend to make a very very good example of that branch and their pathetic, lazy and useless staff that they employ.

If i do not receive any feedback whatsoever i promise you, i will make a very very good example of this treatment and damage the so called name that Shoprite Verulam has.
