<p>This has been bugging me for years, it happens every single time when I pay cash at Shoprite. Shoprite is THE ONLY Supermarket chain in South Africa which ROUND UP their tills to the closest 10 cents. All other large supermarket chains like Pick n Pay, Checkers, Spar, they all round off to the closest 10 cents. This means if your shopping, for example, comes to R25,02 they will take R25,10 from you. No change is given. At Pick n Pay, Checkers or Spar, you would be paying R25,00, because they round off. I know it is only a few cents every time, but add all those cents up from all the Shoprite stores in South Africa and beyond, every single day, from all their customers, Shoprite is pocketing change from millions of their customers. This could easily add up to millions of Rands of profit per year, which they take from their loyal customers, most of which are in the low income bracket and do have to count their cents. So much for "With us you get more", which they claim with their advertising. It's a disgrace.</p>
