Stabbed at Shoprite Mayfair

During a visit to the Shoprite in Mayfair, Johannesburg, I unfortunately experienced an injury while shopping. A food warmer was placed in such a way that it unexpectedly stabbed my thigh. Upon realizing what happened, I sought help from an employee who was stocking shelves. Shockingly, they shared that they, too, had been repeatedly affected by the same food warmer, to the extent that it caused tears in their work pants. This lack of action despite being aware of the issue surprised and disappointed me.

Seeking further assistance, I notified the floor manager, a lady on duty at that time. Despite explaining the situation and the potential harm posed to customers by the poorly placed food warmer, the manager's response was limited to an apology. I emphasized the necessity of relocating or properly securing the food warmer to prevent future injuries to customers, but unfortunately, no action was taken.

Initially, I didn't think much of the injury, but over time, it resulted in swelling, bruising, and scarring. This progression, combined with the lack of urgency and concern from the manager, left me increasingly frustrated. Considering that this Shoprite was my most convenient store, it was disheartening to have such an unpleasant experience, which ultimately led me to avoid returning.

The disregard for customer safety and the lack of proactive measures to rectify the issue were particularly shocking. Despite the store's convenience to me, I haven't returned due to this unsettling incident and the inadequate response from the management team.
