Sigarette counter purchase

<p>Visited shoprite at the Randburg Square today, in lunchtime. Wanted to buy a box of sigarettes at the sigarette counter and pay for a yoghurt and packet of chips. Apparently one cannot pay for goods other than sigarettes at that counter. Why? Every other checkers i have visited has allowed me to purchase other items at the sigarette counter. Understandably i cannot pay for a whole trolley of goods at the sigarette counter but 3 items seems acceptable... I was assisted very quickly when i complained, presumably by the manager, who said i could wait at the next available tillpoint however, the cashier made it very obvious that she was not happy, as i was now skipping the queue. No sign at the sigarette counter indicating what kind of purchases are allowed was visible, and there was no queue so... I'm assuming Shoprite has a good reason for this and would love to hear it.</p>
