Shoprite(Alex Plaza) Staff Negligence(****** Bag)

I went to the Shoprite Store at Pan Alex Plaza on 09/11/18 between 19:30pm and 20:00pm before the close of business day to buy my daughters confections and snacks because we were going to attend an event at her school on 10/11/2018 which commenced at 08:30am. When I got into the store I carrying a black laptop bag which I normally use for work. I left it at the parcel counter prior to entering the store. My bag was received by a lady called: Nocawe Juzana who happened to be behind the counter then. I greeted her politely as I handed her my bag and she returned the gesture as she gave me the tag to safe-keep my bag. The tag number was 30. I walked into the store fervently keeping in mind that the store was nearing the close of business day. I picked everything I needed and made my way to the till point. I was then assisted by a gentlemen who wore a name tag that visibly showed that his name is Themba. I was the last customer he served as he simultaneously cashed up his till to knock off. Before my items were rang I asked to withdraw some money from the till, so he politely assisted me with that. A supervisor was standing by to collect the cashiers float/cash, so I generously moved to the next till to pay for my items. This process was done quickly and professionally. I then took my plastic bag of groceries and progressed to exit. At the door I displayed my slip to the security man who signed it off. I then left the store and headed to the parcel counter, I took out the parcel tag to bail out my belongings. i noticed a man just outside chatting to the counter attendants. As I greeted him, I simultaneously handed my tag to Nocawe. When i looked over the counter directly at the shelf where she placed my bag I noticed that it(my bag) was missing. i looked around in case she probably placed it on the floor or elsewhere. She, too realized that it was no longer there, I asked what happened to my bag and she told me with ease that she gave it to a man who without a tag claimed that the bag was his. Apparently, she assumed the man probably knew me that's why she gave him my bag without hesitation. She alleged that she asked the man what was inside the bag and the man mentioned a work uniform that wasn't described in full details. The shock I got when I heard this from her! Furiously so, I rushed back to the store and approached a lady who seemed to be a supervisor and explained to her what transpired. She attentively listened to my query and politely asked me to wait while she called her manager. When Miss Ma****wa arrived, she politely asked what happened, so I explained the issue. She made an announcement through the intercom speaker to summon Nocawe. The 3 of us went into the office where the matter unpacked. Miss Ma****wa then made a call to Mr Mashilo " The store manager", who then wasn't around and she explained the details I told her-to him. She then asked me to list the items I had in my bag while she jotted them down on a piece of paper. i tried to utter them at the top of my head but not entirely because I was in an agitated state of mind. However, she arranged for an "appointment"to meet me, together with the store manager and Nocawe on 10/11/20187 at 06:30am(understand I had to be at my daughters school at 08:30am on the same day) only to be told that the matter will be escalated to the regional manager while I don't have the means to get by for that day and the rest of the month because of the valuables which where in that bag. I left the store to commute home with so much stress because of everything I lost in the hands of a negligent employee at Shoprite.

I not only lost a bag(to them it was just a bag with uniform) but everything that's important and valuable to me was inside the bag. 1. Bag of laptop valued at R600 2. A second hand wifi router i bought for R500 3. 1 TB external hard-drive that basically had everything that I depended on for my business. These include: Corporate identity(Business Logo, Letter head and Business Card Design) that costed me R1000, Forex learning modules that costed me R10 000 through the global forex institute; Business plan cost=R350 4. Perfumes=R3000(Which is what I had in order to have bread for my kids and wife, my 4months old daughter who still needs a formula depended on this money as this was my second source of income) As we speak I don't know how we going to get by as my wife recently started work(was on maternity leave-with no pay). 5. My ID 6. A4 Hardcover note book with my client database, contact numbers, addresses, orders, appointments, and personal information to aid my business day to day operation with approximately 250 clients, some of which need to pay me for the perfumes they took on credit. 7. My work uniform(The assistant manager sent an email to my manager explaining what transpired and that I need a new uniform) That is by far the only thing Shoprite has help with in this whole situation, I have to back and forth with money I don't have to check what the update is, i even sent an email to their customer department and only received an email acknowledging my query[ Ticket: 125401 ] [Bag ****** in store] from Renate Coetzee who thanked me for taking the time to communicate with them in the email and I never heard from her again. 8. Lunch box and a fork 9. plastic bottle 10. A red and black pen I use to make notes and prioritize my appointments. 11. A pack of cigarettes and gunlighter 12. Torga reading glasses which are valued R7000 How long does a Shoprite Regional Manager attend to quarries like these because from the supervisor, manager, assistant manager and customer care we are all awaiting for the regional manager's response and I ask myself if this is not a matter of "location" because I must say it hasn't been a pleasant wait.
