Shoprite please Serve right

On Saturday October 22 I went into one of the Shoprite stores in Berea Centre, Berea, Durban to purchase a few items. I stood in the quee to make payments, when it was my chance to purchase I produced my debit card and also requested cashback. The cashier by the name of Sizwe Mhlongo told me he wants cash only and that he did shout this out for everyone to hear. I then informed Sizwe that I did not hear such. Sizwe was abdamant that he shouted this for everyone in the quee to hear and refused to serve me.

When i enquired with the rest of the people behind myself if they heard him mention that he accepts cash only, none of them heard such. After noticing that the cashier was not keen on assisting me I asked him to send me to a cashier that accepts debit cards and he refused.Sizwe then called upon his colleague by the name of Zukiswa Msuthwana who is a front end controller to reverse the transaction I suppose. When I explained the situation to Zukiswa she just carried on doing what she was doing at the cashiers till and carried on as if I wasn't even there. Been so annoyed by these actions and pathetic service I wakled out the store with my hard eaned money to go to an establishment that would value my business and treat me with respect.

After some deep thought of what had transipred I decided to go back into the store to report these individuals to the Manager. I then proceeded to Zukiswa to ask her name and she shouted Zukiswa Msuthwana with an Attitude to the line that you cant do nothing. I then went to Sizwe and as I wakled away I am sure I heard him mumble insults. I apporoached the assistant manager on duty and reported the matter. As I was reporting Zukiswa comes again hovering behind the manager and pulling her face with an attitude. The Assistant manager said she would like to aplogise on their behalf and I mentioned i dont understand why she must apologise when the people who are doing the wrong are unapologetic and are still have an attitude even in front of Management.

The assistant Manager said she will take the matter to the branch Manager and that was when I left. The service I received at that stotre was atrocious and disheartening as I dont understand why another human can be so direspectful to another just because they feel somewhat more powerful at that current moment. The incident made me question the ethics and values of the organisation as a whole as those are the people who interact with the customers and they are the ones who display the values and ethics of the organisation as a whole. After that incident i do not see myself ever stepping foot in that store again. Clearly shoprite does not serve right or the employees are running their own ****as.
